Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot announced that they are planning to port Wii U games to tablets and smartphones. The company will try to recoup costs this way because ports to the PS3 and Xbox 360 are not always possible.
“The new content you can’t port on the other machines but what you can do is to port it to mobile phones and to tablets,” said Guillemot. “So it’s a way to create content that you will be able to port on the generations of tablets or phones that work well – if you don’t monetize it there you can monetize it on many other platforms.”
“You have to do specific content to be monetized by the Wii U itself but it’s also an opening to all the tablets and phones because it’s a same system in in a way, the touch screen,” he added.
The Ubisoft games coming to the Wii U include dancing/fitness titles like Just Dance 4, Your Shape Fitness Evolved and Sports Connection, the family friendly Rayman Legends and Rabbids Land and the core games ZombiU and Assassin’s Creed III. No word as to which titles might receive a tablet/smartphone port.

Sony showed off the impressive new project from Quantic Dream at their press conference. Beyond: Two Souls will star actress Ellen Page in the lead role for the game.

Electronic Arts has announced that they are launching SimCity Social. This follows the release of Sims Social, which is the publisher’s most popular social game.
“We have high aspirations and high hopes for this one,” said Jami Laes, VP of Global Studios for Playfish, EA’s social games studios.
The game challenges players to act as a virtual mayor, constructing roads, buildings and streets from the ground up to make a city. Unlike other versions of the game, players will get to collaborate with friends, deciding to either build a friendly relationship with another city or a rivalry that might result in natural disasters.
An example given was inviting a friend to dinner and possibly throwing up all over the table. Another example was sending a seagull to defecate over your the city rooftops of another player.
“It’s suitable for the platform,” said Laes. “It’s rewarding and fun and surprising.”
